LittleBigHelp empowers individuals in India to create a brighter future. Through awareness raising, education and child protection, we work with local communities to empower and secure the rights of vulnerable people in West Bengal, India. Mission: We change your little help into a big help for people in need. Vision: We cannot help everybody, but we can help some. And we do it! OUR WORK At our ten Community Centres, we prepare children for school, support their families, and raise awareness about rights for people living in slum areas. We also offer educational support through tutoring courses, school preparation courses, and computer training. Additionally, we raise awareness on health and hygiene issues, and build women-friendly toilets in the slum areas. The goal of our Skills Development projects is to empower vulnerable women financially and socially. When a woman earns a salary, the entire family benefits. Through our Skills Development Projects, we focus on empowering and supporting women. More than 200 women are enrolled to learn a skill, so they can get a job as a tailor or beautician, for instance. At our courses, we also teach women about their rights and provide support and counselling to help them cope with abuse, oppression and other harsh living conditions. In our Girls’ and Boys’ homes, vulnerable girls and boys can get away from the streets and start a new life with care, comfort, nutrition and education – and a place to call ‘home’. Through our Computer Training for Tribal Youth, we empower young people living in rural villages with basic computer skills. We support the Centre for Special Education, which offers care and education for children and adolescents with special needs. English:In relation to the event "The world runs for LittleBigHelp" you can start your own fundraiser to help raise more funds for our projects for children in the slums by starting your own fundraiser. The proceeds from the charity run goes to LittleBigHelp’s projects for vulnerable children in the slums of India. This run fundraises for our Community Centres in the slum, where children who don’t normally go to school will be offered a school preparation course until they are ready to be enrolled in school. While they are at the Centre they will also receive a daily meal, health checks, therapy and LittleBigHelp does home visits to ensure support from the family towards their children’s education. For 50 DKK we can provide 8 health checks to children in the slums For 100 DKK we can provide 33 meals to children in the slums For 500 DKK we can provide 12 children with a weeks school preparation course for children in the slums For 1000 DKK we can provide one child 6 from the slum months daily school preparation course, family therapy and help the child get enrolled in a local school You can sign up for the run and get your starting number here:Danish: For tredje gang afholder LittleBigHelp et fundraisingløb til fordel for vores projekter for udsatte børn i Indien. På LittleBigHelps Community Centres i Kolkatas slum, får børn der ikke er skolevante et skoleforberedelseskursus, indtil de er parate til at blive indskrevet i den lokale skole. På Centeret får de også et dagligt måltid mad, sundhedstjek, terapi, lærer om deres rettigheder og LittleBigHelp laver hjemmebesøg for at sikre opbakning til børnenes uddannelse fra deres forældre - hvilket er langtfra en selvfølge.
