HopeNow is a Danish anti-trafficking organization powered by the work of volunteers. It is known for working with innovative methods to fight human trafficking and support victims of human trafficking, both in Denmark and in Africa. HopeNow’s work is based on empowering victims, helping victims help themselves, and an overall concern for basic human rights. HopeNow performs social outreach work, for example in prisons, on the streets, and within asylum systems, while also offering psychological, cultural, legal, humanitarian and healthcare support in order to provide victims with continuous and holistic help, which is always unconditional and free of judgment. In actuality it is most often the people who are in need of help and guidance who contact us themselves. HopeNow’s phone number and contact information is passed on from one person in need to another. HopeNow has a specific focus on trafficked women in prostitution in Denmark, but now increasingly also trafficked men. The victims of human trafficking whom HopeNow is in contact with mainly come from Africa. HopeNow also actively lobbies for improvements in the rights and opportunities for trafficked people. Additionally, HopeNow finds it vastly important to inform, raise awareness, and educate people about what human trafficking is and how it takes place in 2012. HopeNow therefore offers widespread educational presentations and lectures in order to achieve this goal.
