Zealand cycles in support of improved diabetes care

As part of its collaboration with the international diabetes research foundation JDRF, Zealand Pharma is attending the ”Ride to Cure 2013” that takes place on October 19th in Death Valley, California. "Ride to Cure” is an annual event in support of the research for prevention, treatment and cure of diabetes attracting participants from patient organizations, the treatment system and from the pharmaceutical industry worldwide. Please help us in supporting this great common purpose.

Diabetes is a very serious disease booming almost everywhere in the world. Zealand is an expert in research and development of innovative new peptide medicines with a special focus on the treatment of cardio-metabolic diseases, including diabetes and obesity. We are driven by the goal of creating better treatment options that can enhance quality of life and improve the lives of patients with diabetes. Partnerships are an important fundamental part of our success. Our collaboration with JDRF, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, is an expression of how important it is to research extensively within the field of diabetes and that cross-disciplinary cooperation is vital to our success.

As part of our collaboration with JDRF, Zealand and three voluntary employees from the company will attend the fundraising-ride “Ride to Cure 2013”, which is an event to raise awareness about diabetes and to obtain funds to support the research in new and better treatments within this field.

The participating riders from Zealand personally pay for their travel expenses in connection with participating in the ride, and the aim of Zealand’s participation is to rise more than USD 12,000 in support of diabetes research under JDRF. We hope to achieve our goal together with you and the efforts of our three Zealand-riders and will ensure that your donation in full is directed into research projects under the JDRF auspices making a difference within the field of diabetes to the benefit of many patients in the future.

Many thanks for your contributions and support.

    We
    Ride
    On.

As all National Parks are closed due to the budget crisis in the USA, JDRF had to cancel the Ride to Cure Diabetes 2013. We should have cycled within the Death Valley National Park, but the permission to operate within these boundaries is invalid until the government ‘comes back online’.

We really looked forward to attend the Ride to Cure fundraising arrangement after several months of training, fundraising among colleagues, friends and family, preparation of shipping our bikes to the US and preparing ourselves mentally to cycle in the extremes of the Dessert. And last but not least also for cycling together with all other riders to support JDRF’s mission.

Thanks a lot to everybody who has given their contributions to JDRF’s research for prevention, treatment and cure of diabetes and your support for making a difference within the field of diabetes to the benefit of many patients in the future.

Instead of this years ride, we will attend the Ride to Cure 2014 and your contributions still go to support JDRF to raise awareness about diabetes and to obtain funds to support the research in new and better treatments within the diabetes area.

    Ride
