Sisterpower is an international Women’s Aid organization with a holistic approach to empowering women.
Through our innovative empowerment programs and our Sisterhood-houses, we create full-circle safety for women providing them with trauma treatment, physical safety, emotional and financial safety, legal aid, family planning courses, professional skills and opportunities for self-sufficiency, access to network as well as protecting their rights to be treated as equals in dignity and rights.
The women will leave the program with a detailed safety plan, access to network, access to financial aid, the ability to earn money from a handicraft and the strength to teach and help other women.
Hereby we achieve real and sustainable empowerment of the women resulting in economic, psychological and social development.
SisterPower also works to gain a strong voice as advocates for women's rights on the global stage.
The most dangerous countries for women
India is the world’s most dangerous country for women due to the high risk of sexual violence and being forced into slave labour, So this is where we chose to start with the SISTERHOOD 1 project in collaboration with the reputable Maher Foundation.
Why empowerment of women is important
Empowering women to participate in growth opportunities, developing countries will accelerate their economic and social development.
Did you know that women reinvest 90% of their income into the family, compared to 30 to 40% by men?
This means women spend more on their children, food, shelter, and education which creates long-term social and economic gains for their communities. This makes them an integral part of ending the cycle of poverty.
